Georgia Needs Pickup Truck Seat Belt Law!!

Georgia was the only state in the nation with a primary belt law that excludes pickup trucks. If you were under 18 you were required to buckle up, but adults did not. Children learn by example, this law needed to change this year. From 2002-2007, GA experienced a 14 % rise in the number of fatalities in MVA crashes involving trucks. Unrestrained truck occupants are 37 X as likely to be killed as those restrained. http://extension.caes.uga.edu/gtipi/pdffiles/PickupTruck_FACTSHEET_CODES_012009.pdf

Facts can be twisted to make any point your want. In fact, of all pickup truck fatalities in GA, only 30% were not wearing seatbelts. Does this mean you're more likely to die if you wear a seatbelt? You see, facts can be bent to show anything you want.

The fact is us Georgians DO NOT WANT mandatory seatbelt laws in our pickups.
